FAQ
Yes. Most riders report a significant improvement in traction, comfort and control. Our systems improve oil flow control, which allows the suspension to respond better to bumps, braking and acceleration forces.
Not always.
Springs support the rider’s weight, while valving controls how the suspension moves. If your springs suit your weight range, upgrading the valving can still dramatically improve performance.
Many Motaero products are designed as DIY drop-in upgrades. If you have basic suspension tools and mechanical knowledge, installation is often straightforward. If unsure, a suspension technician can install the components quickly.
Our products are engineered for:
- Enduro
- Hard Enduro
- Adventure Riding
- Motocross
- Trail Riding
Each system is designed to improve control across rough terrain and technical riding conditions.
Because our products are:
- Designed and CNC machined in Australia
- Tested in harsh off-road conditions
- Built for reliability and performance
- Developed by riders for riders
Bike Setup Selector
The Interactive Bike Setup Selector works like a guided suspension recommendation tool that you can place on key pages like your homepage or product pages. Riders move through simple steps that mirror how a suspension technician would collect information before recommending an upgrade.
The selector typically follows these steps:
- Step 1 — What bike do you ride? Choose from brands like KTM, Husqvarna, Yamaha, Beta, Sherco, Ducati, GasGas and more.
- Step 2 — What riding do you mainly do? Options like trail riding, hard enduro, motocross, adventure riding, or racing.
- Step 3 — Rider weight (with gear) Ranges such as under 70kg, 70–85kg, 85–100kg, or 100kg+.
- Step 4 — What problem are you trying to fix? Choices like harsh forks, bottoming out, poor traction, bike feels unstable, fork dive under braking, or shock kicking on bumps.
Based on the rider’s bike, weight, riding style and main problem, the selector displays a clear recommended upgrade.
Typical results include:
- Dynamic Base Valve Kit
- Spring upgrade
- Cartridge kit
- Shock bladder conversion
Suspension Troubleshooting FAQ
Harshness is often caused by restricted oil flow through the compression valve. Upgrading the base valve or adjusting the shim stack can allow the fork to react more freely to small bumps, improving comfort and traction.
Bottoming usually occurs when:
- springs are too soft
- compression damping is too light
- oil height is too low
Upgrading the compression valve can significantly improve bottoming resistance.
Shock kick is often caused by excessive rebound damping. When rebound is too slow, the shock cannot extend quickly enough between bumps.
Fork dive occurs when compression damping is too soft or springs are too light for the rider.
Common causes include:
- incorrect sag
- worn suspension oil
- poorly balanced fork/shock damping

General Questions
Yes. Upgraded suspension dramatically improves:
- traction
- comfort
- control
- bottoming resistance
Most riders report the bike feels more planted, predictable and easier to ride faster with less effort.
Springs should match rider weight. If your weight is outside the standard range, upgrading springs will improve balance and control. However, valving upgrades can still dramatically improve performance even with stock springs.
Re-valving changes shim stacks inside the stock components. Aftermarket valves or cartridge systems can increase oil flow capacity and improve damping control, allowing more consistent performance across different terrain.
Most Motaero upgrades are designed as drop-in upgrades and can be installed during routine suspension servicing. A professional technician can install them quickly, but experienced home mechanics can often install them as well.
High-performing suspension upgrades improve performance across multiple riding conditions including:
- Hard enduro
- Trail riding
- Adventure riding
- Motocross
- Racing
Yes. Harshness is usually caused by restricted oil flow through the compression valve. Improved valve designs allow the fork to react more freely to small bumps, improving comfort and traction.
Upgraded compression systems improve:
- mid-stroke support
- oil flow control
- bottoming resistance
This allows the suspension to absorb large impacts without harshness.
Your clickers will still function normally, but the upgraded valve system provides a much broader usable adjustment range. This allows riders to fine-tune suspension more effectively.
Many riders achieve dramatic improvements with valve upgrades at a fraction of the cost of replacing forks or shocks. For many applications, this provides excellent performance gains without the cost of a full suspension system.
Riders who benefit most include:
- aggressive trail riders
- adventure riders carrying luggage
- riders outside the standard weight range
- racers seeking improved traction and control
