Received the XT Cone valve kit this morning and installed it. The workmanship and quality are much better than OEM; I was extremely impressed! It was also very easy to install. The only issue was removing the old cartridge; the factory threadlocker did not let the OEM cartridge easily disengage from the retaining bolt. I was able to make a holding fixture from a soft piece of wood to remove the original cartridge.
I like the extra fork leg adjustment and set the rebound to 14 clicks from full in and the compression 18 clicks from full in. I also used the recommended 500 cc of 5wt. fork oil (Belray). Shawn is super responsive answering questions about setup.
I hope to go riding within the week and will report on the feel of of the forks!
N10Z fork kit provided just the feel I was looking for on my KTM 890R. Forks have a very predictable feel and all around great performance.
I’ve been running the V1 cartridge for about a year now, and it completely transformed my Xtrainer. Having adjustable compression is a total game-changer; I was able to tune out the bouncy, springy stock feel and make the front end feel incredibly planted. The bike deflects significantly less off rocks, holds its up better under heavy braking without nose-diving, and resists bottoming out on bigger drops. I'm excited about the changes and updates the V2 brings and definitely plan on ordering one.
Finally, a huge shoutout to Shawn at Motaero. I had a few questions during the installation and setup, and his customer service was top-notch—he was incredibly helpful and always responded right away. Highly recommended!
